Welcome
to J.S. Dietz Toy Soldiers. Many collectors
will remember the J.S. Dietz range of toy
soldiers produced from 1992 through 2001.
During our 6 year hiatus we have observed
a dramatic change in the subject matter
and style of figures produced. While very
impressive to behold, they are not quite
what we prefer to collect.
The
last decade has also seen the departure
of several of the great manufacturers such
as Kingcast and Trophy of Wales. The recent
loss of New Zealand’s Imperial Productions
was particularly saddening to me. Of course
Derek Cross of England’s “All
the Queens Men” and my friend and
toy soldier inspiration William “Bill”
Hocker of California “soldier on”.
We
intend to produce what we feel is lacking.
Toy soldiers. Not the Mignot or Britains
of the turn of the century, 19th century
that is, nor a military miniature but something
in between. Please do not ask for a “matte”
finish, it just ain’t happening.
Dietz
figures are original pieces of art. They
are sculpted by our artist in New Zealand
then cast, assembled and painted in very
limited numbers in the U.S. Due to their
very nature our figures are all made to
order and we do not use a dealer network.
We will do our best to get your order out
within two weeks of receipt.
While we try to be “all
things to all men”, at this time we
limit ourselves to the following subjects:
The
Zulu War of 1879
Stalwart lines of Imperial troops supported
by locally raised Colonial units struggle
against the disciplines Regiments of King
Teyswayo’s Impi. Quite possibly the
most Victorian of the Victorian conflicts.
The British still wear the red coat and
the Zulu warriors fight not only to maintain
their independence but for their traditional
way of life.
The
Sudan
When
a contemporary Poet credits his enemies
in verse, it must be a period worth consideration.
| Heres
to you Fuzzy Wuzzy,
And the Missus and the kid,
Our orders was to break you,
So of course we went and did,
We
sloshed you with Martini’s,
And it wasn’t hardly fair,
But for all the odds against you,
Fuzzy Wuzz, you broke the square,

Dietz Toy Soldiers is proud to present the
early campaign in the Sudan. Abu Klea, El
Teb, Tamaii, Khartoum. The names bring forth
visions of sacrifice and valor on both sides.
So
form your squares, steady your troops with
stalwart Officers and keep those camels
in check!
“Eyes
front! Here they come….wait for it!”
The
First World War - Discontinued:
Stock is limited, so order NOW!
The
first of the truly modern wars. Gallantry
gives way to gas as even the most determined
troops can not overcome the chattering maxims.
Gallipoli, Palestine and the Western Front.
The
Second Afghan War - 1880
The Khyber Pass, Ali Masjid, Maiwand, Kabul.
An Anglo-Indian Army struggles against the
proud and tenacious tribes of Afghanistan.
While Britain is victorious, their influence
only extends as far as a rifle shot. Coming
